Natcracker @ Ballet San Jose

I hope you all had a wonderful and restful Christmas with your loved one!

I had friends over to our house and had dinner. We actually haven't had stayed home for winter break due to traveling last couple of years, it was actually very nice to just stay home to enjoy relaxing time at home.

Today I and my daughter went to see Nutcracker at Ballet San Jose.

It was outstandingly great through out! Seeing this show was extra special as there are many dancers that were guest dancers in PYB Nutcracker and other productions. One of my daughter's teacher is a soloist in SJ Ballet. Needless to say when she was dancing on the stage, we were cheering louder than ever!!

Seeing the same production produced by a different company is very rewarding for my daughter as she could never see it live while she is in the production...

皆さん、クリスマスを過ごされましたか？

 

我が家では家族ぐるみのお友達とホームパーティをしました。今年は（も？）Fred's Beefと呼ばれるイカ墨でマリネされているお肉をメインにして、美味しいワインと楽しいお喋りで盛り上がりました。

 

お食事が一段落した後も大人はひたすらお喋りを楽しみ、子供たちはボートでラグーンクルーズに出かけてクリスマスのイルミネーションを楽しみました。

 

今年は例年と違い、ステイケーションモードな我が家。「ステイケーション」とはバケーションとは違ってお家でお休みを満喫する意味で使われてます。我が家もここ数年は海外での年末年始だったり、旅行に出かけていたりしたので、久しぶりにゆっくりとそれぞれが休みを満喫していると言った感じでしょうか？私もこの休みの間に数プロジェクトに取り掛かりたいと思っているほどです。

 

さて、クリスマスも過ぎて今日はサンホゼバレェの「くるみ割り人形」を娘と二人で観に行って参りました。

 

バレエ・サンホゼの「くるみ割り人形」には娘のバレエの先生がソリストでいらっしゃるのと、娘が参加して来た「くるみ割り人形」にゲストダンサーとしていらっしゃった方々が出演されているので、それだけでも見ているだけで大興奮な舞台なのです。

 

アメリカでクリスマスの時期に「くるみ割り人形」を多々のカンパニーが公演していますが、カンパニー毎にストーリー仕立てがちょっぴり違うので、その違いを見るだけでも、とても楽しくなって来ます。

 

「（自分が）出ているくるみ割り人形は生で見た事が無いから、観客席で見れるのがとても楽しみ！」

 

と、今日、会場で娘が言ってましたが、確かにそうでした（笑）。

 

バレエ・サンホゼの「くるみ割り人形」は２８日まで公演があります。お近くの方にお勧めですよ。
